What does MFN mean? Are the preferential MFN tariffs applicable to my country/region?
The MFN, i.e. the Most-Favored Nation status or treatment, is a commonly used system in international economic and trade relationships. Under this system, preferential benefits, conveniences, privileges, etc. are reciprocally granted among countries/regions in the field of import/export trade, taxation, navigation, etc.
China applies the preferential MFN tariffs to most of other countries/regions.
According to the WTO Agreements, any WTO member state generally may not discriminate among its WTO trading partners. Any preference to one of its WTO partners, such as lower tariffs, shall also be granted to other WTO members. So, if your country/region is a WTO member, you can certainly enjoy China's preferential MFN tariffs.
